We believe that by establishing a strong working relationship with your child we can create a better understanding of their educational needs which enhances their possibility of achievement and success. In this way, we can overcome any challenges they may have, build confidence and accelerate learning. We let the parents get on with being parents whilst we look after your child’s education.

How I work

My background in Psychology is very much a part of how I work with children as I very much believe that Cognitive development – thinking and reasoning - is based on the idea that children’s thinking develops in stages. This is why most 10 year olds struggle with abstract thinking, but as the child gets older, their brains adapt to more complex ideas and the mind adapts to ‘accommodate’ this new learning. This explains why an older child has more success working out more abstract and complex ideas than their younger peers. Having a skilled adult to guide them through this learning process allows them to gradually take on board the information and concepts needed to reach the desired goal.

After an initial conversation to find out who and what the tuition is for, I arrange an assessment which is informal, but provides me with a baseline of your child’s current knowledge level in the subject or area in which they need support and I can then plan the tuition program and set the desired goals within the timeline available.

It is also an opportunity to meet you (the parents) with a view to creating a good working relationship which is key to success. Tuition is usually once a week for one hour during term time (holidays are optional) but this can vary depending on the time frame and the outcome desired. We work both online and offline but for face to face tuition, we serve Headcorn, Staplehurst, Tenterden, Marden, Lenham, Harrietsham and Maidstone.
